Cuttack, April 1, 2018: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on
Sunday dedicated to people the Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Setu from Cuttack to
Nuapatna built over Mahanadi river.

Built at a cost of Rs 157 crore, entirely
from State resources, the 2.5km long three lane bridge with walkways on
both sides reduces the distance between Cuttack and
Dhenkanal by 16 km and will help increase tourist and pilgrim inflow to
Dhabaleswar Temple, resulting in socio-economic development of the area.
The bridge was completed before the schedule in just 29 months.
Later addressing a gathering the CM said with continued push
for infrastructure development in the State, Patnaik said in the last 17 years,
we have built 318 major bridges of which 107 are in the last three years. On
Mahanadi alone, seven major bridges have been completed and five more are under
construction.
“The bridge will benefit the people of Cuttack district and
significantly boost socio-economic activities on both sides of the river. The
distance between Cuttack and Dhenkanal has been reduced by 16 km. The holy
Dhabaleswar temple will also get a tourism boost as the bridge directly
connects it from Cuttack city,” said Patnaik.
“The bridge is a standing testament to our commitment to
establish high class connectivity to each and every part of the state. It has
been entirely built from the state’s own resources –the people of Odisha are
the owners,” added Patnaik.
