61,850 patients carried in OEMAS 108 ambulances in 6 months in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As many as 61,850 patients were carried in 108 Ambulance
service with six months of the implementation of Odisha Emergency Medical
Ambulance Service (108 ambulance service) on March 5, 2013. 
While in March 2013, the total number of calls converted to 108
Ambulance Despatch was 1844 and a total of 1640 patients were carried in 108
ambulance, during April, the total number of calls converted to Ambulance
Despatch was 5696 and patients carried in ambulance was 5232. During May, 8668
patients, in June 10245, in July 16531and in August a total of 19514 patients
were carried in 108 ambulance, Government sources said.
The 108 ambulance service is now being implemented in 15
districts including Keonjhar, Bargarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati,
Jagatsingpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Malkangiri,
Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Sonepur.
Besides our State, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat,
Uttarakhand, Goa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Chhatisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Assam,
Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have 108 ambulance
services.
