Bhubaneswar: In a major setback to Hi-Tech group chairman
Tirupati Panigrahi, the Supreme Court has again rejected the bail pleas him and
two of his associates in the land fraud case.

The Court has fixed March 31 as the next date for hearing.

Sources said the apex
court on Friday rejected Panigrahi’s bail plea as he failed to comply the court’s
direction to deposit the amount of Rs 10 crore.  The apex court on January 27 while hearing the
case has directed Panigrahi to deposit Rs 10 crore within a week and remaining
50 crore within three months.

Earlier, the apex court had asked him to return the land to
the people from whom the company had taken advance money before applying for
bail.
Panigrahi, along with his two relatives, was arrested by the
Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of the state Crime Branch on December 25, 2012 for
allegedly reneging on the promise of providing residential plots to people
after taking money from them in 2009.
