272 students get Tata Jyoti Fellowship awards in Kalinganagar

Solar lanterns and Tabs to meritorious SC/ST students

Kalinganagar/Jajpur: With an attempt to support the
education of underprivileged Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students,
Tribal Cultural Society (TCS), a society promoted by Tata Steel, on Thursday awarded
Jyoti Fellowship to 272 school and college students in Kalinganagar area.

Project of Tata Steel, awarded the Fellowship to meritious students in a
function organised at Danagadi Bhawan.
To further help these students in their studies, who mostly
hail from remote areas not having dedicated supply of power, 199 school
students were provided with ‘Solar’ lanterns. Similarly, 13 toppers of the
Jyoti Fellowship Test (7 from colleges and 6 from schools) were provided with
Tabs.
This is for the third consecutive year, that the fellowship
was awarded to students in Kalinganagar. Cash and certificates of merit were
given to all of them on the occasion. While 141 High School students were
awarded the fellowship in 2011-12, 197 High School students were awarded in the
subsequent year.
Till last year, only High School students were given this
fellowship, but from 2013-14, students of +2 and +3 classes are also being
given the fellowship.
Among others, Biren Ramesh Bhuta, Chief, CSR, Tata Steel,
Prasant Mallick, Chief, Land & Lease, R&R , Mohit Das, Chief, Corporate
Relations, Kalinganagar Project, Urmila Ekka of TCS  and Sisir Tarafder, Unit Head, TSRDS, were
among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
