Odisha Investors’ Meet draws Rs 90,940-Cr commitment

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: The State Government has received investment
assurances of around Rs 90,000 crore during the Odisha Investors; Meet in Bengaluru.
 
“I am happy to share that the investor interest in our State
has translated into concrete investment commitment of Rs 90,940 crore with
employment potential of 70,000 during the two days,” said Chief Minister Patnaik.
Patnaik had a one-to-one discussion with captains of different industries on
Friday.  
The Chief Minister told the investors that his Government has
identified five focus sectors – Agro and Food Processing; Plastics, Chemicals
and Petrochemicals; Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and
IT/ITeS; Downstream and Ancillary industries in metal sector; Textiles and
Apparels and said a 10-year Action Plan for development of these sectors has been
launched.
The CM also unveils Odisha Start-Up Policy -2016 at the IT
Capital of the country. The policy initiative will be a launchpad for our
mission to become one of the top three Start-Up hubs in India by 2020.
“Laying down a comprehensive nurturing environment, we
envisage facilitating at least 1000 start-ups in next five years. Besides, My
Government is also set to come up with dedicated policies for employment
intensive sectors like Auto and Auto Components, Healthcare and
Pharmaceuticals, Plastics, Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Renewable Energy and
Textiles and Apparels by the end of this year,” said Patnaik.
He also highlighted Government’s focus on creating
best-in-class infrastructure and facilities that include InfoValley in
Bhubaneswar, National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Kalinga
Nagar, Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) at
Paradip. The masterplans of the investment regions will be unveiled in next
three months.
He also informed about the inclusion of 42 services
concerning industrial approvals under Right to Public Services Act and also
fixed time frame of 15 days for according final project approval to Green
Category industries and 30 days for others.
The State Government in association with Central Government will
host “Make in Odisha” conclave on December 1 and 2. A National Start-Up
challenge will be launched to identify and felicitate best start-ups in the
country.
