In a Facebook message, Patnaik said, “Fondly remembering our
beloved People’s President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary. The
simple yet extraordinary man touched a billion lives with his unmatched
contributions and vision for the country. He was loved and looked up to by the
youth and students with whom he engaged the most. He ignited the young minds to
dream big and work hard to fulfill them.”

“He will always live in the hearts of every Indian not only

Dr Kalam served as the 11th President of India between 2002
and 2007. He worked with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Defense
Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as an aerospace engineer before
becoming the President.

He passed away on July 27, 2015 at the age of 83 due to
cardiac arrest in Shillong while delivering a lecture at the IIM where he was a
