Odisha Collectors asked to inspect rain gauge instruments before onset of monsoon

Bhubaneswar, March 5, 2018: The Odisha government has
instructed all dirtiest collectors to get rain gauge instruments in their
respective districts inspected before onset of monsoon.

Special Relief Commissioner and Disaster Management
Secretary Bishnupada Sethi, in a letter to all Collectors, has asked to make
sure that the Sub-Collectors of their respective districts inspect all rain
gauge instruments within their jurisdiction and submit report on the status of
rain gauge stations by May 10.

Sethi has asked Collectors to take immediate steps for
repair of defunct rain gauge stations if any.

He further said, in case the measuring instrument or any
other part of rain gauge instrument is found to have been damaged, a special
messenger may be deputed with requisition to the Disaster Management department
to receive the new ones.

All collectors have been asked to get defective rain gauge
stations repaired before May 15.
