Bhubaneswar, October 8, 2018: The four-member team from SAI International School won the second position in the CBSE Far East Zone Chess Championship, 2018, U-17 category, held at Kamrup, Assam from October 5 to 7 organised by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and hosted by Royal Global School in Guwahati in Assam.
The team of students, Ankita Sahoo, Suhana Jena, Sanchee Sahoo and Rhea Mohapatra now qualify for the CBSE National Chess Tournament-2018 to be held at Gwalior from November 1 to 4, 2018.
Both the teams from CDA DAV Cuttack and SAI International schools have now qualified for the CBSE National Chess championship 2018.
Notably, girl students of Cuttack CDA-based DAV Public School and SAI International School, Bhubaneswar made it to the National CBSE Chess Championship-2018 to be played between November 1 and 4 in Gwalior.
They were selected for the national-level game by bagging Champions Trophy and becoming runner-up in two different age categories in the recently concluded Far East Zone Chess Championship-2018.
Under-11 category DAV School girls’ team bagged the Champions Trophy while Under-14 team the same school girls emerged as the runner up. And Under-17 team, SAI International School, Bhubaneswar emerged as runner-up in the tournament.
The U-11 team from DAV School, Cuttack comprised Amrusha Mohanty, Rituparna Tripathy, Anshita Patnaik, and Niharika Das congregated six game points while U-14 team consisted of P Sairupa, Adisha Dash, Ayushi Abhigyan, and Ankita Sahoo were awarded six game points and 12 match points from four rounds under the guidance of coach Satya Ranjan Pattanaik.
