Bolangir: Hundreds of passengers aboard Visakhapatnam – Bhagat Ki Kothi Express escaped unhurt on Thursday after the electric engine of the train caught fire at Harishankar railway station.
There was no injury or casualty in the incident. The engine was immediately detached and the train carried on its onward journey with another locomotive, adding the actual cause of fire was not known.
Firefighters, who were rushed to the spot, brought the fire under control. Railway officials suspect a short circuit may have sparked the fire triggering panic among the passengers. The engine of the train was completed destroyed in the fire.
Sources said the train left for its destination after another engine was attached to it.
