Cuttack: Stung by images that went viral on social media, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Tuesday cancelled the annual High School Certificate (Matriculation) English paper at three centres from where large-scale cheating was reported.
Now, students who had appeared for English paper on Monday at Ghunusar Govt High School in Bolangir, Palaspitha Panchayati Raj High School in Dhenkanal and Gopinathpur Krupasindhu Nodal High School in Cuttack district, will write answers for English paper afresh.
The BSE Examination Committee will decide the fresh date in seven days.
Visuals of family and friends passing on answer sheets to their wards in these centres went viral of social media and also in news channel on Monday putting the BSE and the State Government in a fix.
At Palaspitha Panchayati Raj High School parents and relatives scaled boundary walls of the school to provide answer chits to their children. Video of this act had gone viral of social media.
A total of 5, 87, 720 are students appearing for the exam at 2953 exam centres across the State.
