CM initiates transfer of KALIA assistance to 4.80 lakh more farmers

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday initiated transfer of KALIA assistance to the account of additional 4.80 lakh farmers at the State Council of Ministers’ meeting here.

So far, a total of 37,02,922 farmers have received financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1,600 crore under the KALIA scheme in the State, informed Agriculture and Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera in the meeting. Another 4.80 lakh farmers will receive the financial assistance today, added the Minister.

The Council of Ministers’ meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat here was aired live.

The meeting presented a list of achievements and highlighted the execution of promises made by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in its 2014 election manifesto. Notably, the BJD Government soon after being sworn in after a spectacular victory in the elections in 2014 had adopted its manifesto as a resolution at its new Government’s first meeting of Council of Ministers in May that year.

Almost all the Ministers attended the meeting. This was the last Council of Ministers’ meeting as election dates are likely to be announced within a day or two.
