New Delhi: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Women and Child Development on Friday to strengthen skill development initiatives and provide women with self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The MoU was signed between the Skill India and Ministry of Women and Child Development (W&CD) in the presence of Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and W&CD Minister Maneka Gandhi.

As per the MoU Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will work together to identify required skill sets as per geographical relevance and employment potential, develop courses aligned to National Skill Qualification Framework, and deliver skill training leveraging Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) training partner network.

Capacity building workshops will also be organised for National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) certified women interested in entrepreneurship and help onboard them on the Mahila E-Haat platform.

“This MoU is a significant step towards creating an ecosystem of equal opportunities for women to carve out successful career paths and contribute to the nation’s GDP in a more impactful manner,” said Pradhan.

“I hope this joint initiative between Skill India and our Ministry will go a long way in empowering women in every part of the country. It will strengthen skill development initiatives and provide women with self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities,” Gandhi.

Both the Union Ministers asked the concerned officials to ensure proper implementation of the provisions prescribed in the MoU in letter and spirit.
