Paradip: The Paradip Port Trust added another feather to its record-cap by breaking its own record of cargo handling during the current financial year 2018-19 compared to last year.
The port handled 109.27 million MT of cargo surpassing its previous FY 2017-18 record of 102.01 MMT.
Besides, another all time record of 10.55 MMT traffic was handled in a single month in March 2019 surpassing the previous record of 10.18 MMT in January 2018.
The stupendous performance was accomplished in spite of unavailability of two general cargo berths, which have been handed over to the JSW Paradip Terminal Private Limited for mechanisation.
PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy has congratulated all the port employees and stakeholders for the record braking performances.
The majority of cargo handled in the FY 2018-19 was thermal coal, crude oil, coking coal and steam coal, lime stone, fertiliser raw materials, steel materials, oil products etc.
