Nuapada: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday unveiled election manifesto for women at Komna in Nuapada district and announced to provide marriage assistance of Rs 25,000 for girls of poor families.
“Under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, free medical treatment for women will be hiked from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Free education for girls from KG to College, including Medical and Engineering streams will also be provided. Marriage assistance of Rs 25,000 will be given to poor families,” announced Patnaik at an election rally in Komana.
Patnaik said that Rs 5 lakh loan will be provided to women SHGs at zero per cent interest.
The Chief Minister said women, farmers and poor will be given importance in the party’s manifesto. Though the BJP and Congress have released their manifestos, BJD is yet to publish its manifesto officially.
Earlier on Friday, Patnaik promised to provide two installments (Rs 10,000) of financial assistance to all the beneficiaries of the KALIA scheme a day after BJD comes to power in the State.
Elections will be held in Odisha in four phases on April 11, 18, 23 and 29 in 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly constituencies.
