Bhubaneswar: Sweltering heatwave conditions continued to prevail in several parts of Odisha on Sunday as 11 places recorded above 40 degree Celsius. Talcher recorded the State’s maximum temperature at 44.6 degree Celsius.
The day temperature whizzed past 40 degree Celsius in Sambalpur, Titlagarh and Malkangiri (44), Bolangir (43.8), Sonepur (43.6), Hirakud (43.1), Jharsuguda (43), Bhawanipatna (42.6), Angul (41.1) and Sundergarh (41).
State capital Bhubaneswar recorded the day temperature at 39.2 degree Celsius while its neighbouring Cuttack registered 38.1 degree Celsius.
On Saturday, Titlagarh and the district headquarters town of Bolangir in western Odisha recorded 46.5 degree Celsius and 46.3 degree Celsius. This apart, the mercury level at seven more places also hovered over 44 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the IMD forecast said the prevailing heatwave condition will continue in some parts of the State till May 28.
