Cuttack: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Saturday shared policing tips with the fourteen 2015-batch OPS probationers, who called on him at the State police headquarters here.
The DGP told the Odisha Police Officer (OPS) trainees, including five women probationers to use minimum force while tackling law and order and serve people through basic policing.
He asked the officials not to be over reactive and emotional and also advised them not to impose authority at any point of time.
The 14 probationers are at the end part of their training. They are recruited as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) directly.
The DGP apprised the OPS officers how the duty of a police officer is no longer confined to law and order and crime management. Due to technological advancement, the conventional ways of crime investigation has lost its worth. Police is now adopting scientific method of investigation in the difficult cases, like cyber crime and economic offences, the DGP told the officers.
Among others, ADG (Modernisation) VT Mishra, IG (Personnel) PS Ranpise, and IG (Headquarters) Asit Panigrahi were also present on the occasion.
