Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi today met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here and sought State Government’s cooperation for the development of the capital city.
“The discussion with the Chief Minister was positive. As a parliamentarian, I will extend all support to the Government for the development of Bhubaneswar,” said Sarangi, adding that development has no political affiliation.
Sarangi also greeted Patnaik for being sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Odisha for a record fifth consecutive term. Patnaik has been the CM of Odisha since 2000.
Notably, the former Odisha-cadre IAS officer Sarangi joined BJP and successfully contested the Lok Sabha election from Bhubaneswar on BJP ticket in the recently concluded national elections by defeating BJD’s Arup Patnaik. Sarangi had sacrificed 11 years of IAS service to join BJP last year.
The 1994-batch officer, who last served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development, has an enviable reputation in the State as an honest and hard-working administrator back from her days as Bhubaneswar Municipal Commission (BMC) Commissioner, School and Mass Education Department Secretary and Khurda Collector.
Earlier, Sarangi on many occasions said that she deeply inspired by the working style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his dedication, transparency in decisions and how he could extract similar commitment from those around him.
