Budget Session of Odisha Assembly from June 25

Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of Odisha Legislative Assembly would start from June 25 with Governor Ganeshi Lal’s address. Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari would present his first Budget for 2019-20 FY on June 28.

This will be first full Budget of the Naveen Patnaik Government after it voted to power for fifth consecutive term.

In view of the general and State Assembly elections, the interim Budget for the current fiscal was presented by the then Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera.

The Session would continue till August 8 in two phases. While the first phase would be held between June 25 and July 3, the second phase would be conducted between July 11 and August 8.

Deputy Speaker’s election would be held on June 27. The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has nominated Angul MLA Rajanikant Singh as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. Considering the majority of BJD, Singh is set to be the Deputy Speaker of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly.
