E-Hospital Management in all DHHs in two months

Bhubaneswar: To provide more benefits to patients, the e-Hospital Management System (E-HMS) would be introduced in all District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs) in Odisha in the next two months, informed a release of the Health and Family Welfare Department on Monday.

Department Minister Naba Kishore Das conducted a review meeting of e-Hospital Management System for introduction of electronic health records in Government Hospitals and asked officers to inform him about infrastructure, funds and human resources required for the project soon. He too asked officers to take all required steps to ensure introduction of the system in all Government hospitals across the State in two years’ time.

Now, the E-HMS is being implemented in the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack and the Capital Hospital at Bhubaneswar on a pilot basis. It has been targeted to implement the project on a full-fledged manner in the next six months.

In the E-HMS, all information regarding patients would be maintained electronically, which would help doctors detect disease and make treatment appropriately.

Health and Family Welfare Secretary Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda and National Health Mission Director Shalini Pandit presented detailed reports about the system.

As regards to infrastructure, it was revealed that while a total of Rs 147.71 crore has been approved for 71 projects under the NHM PIP progamme, Rs 81.86 crore has been sanctioned so far. In the State plan, a total of Rs 697,55,00,000 has been approved for 2018-19 and 2019-20.   Similarly, the Odisha Mining Area Development Corporation has approved Rs 630,21,87,000 for 433 projects of which Rs 94,53,28,000 has been sanctioned.

Minister Das asked officers to make a list of projects targeted to be completed within 100 days and to ensure that all projects are completed on time.
