Bhawanipatna: To observe the Rath Yatra festival of Lord Jagannath and His siblings, a cultural programme ‘Bhajan Samaroh’ was organised here on Saturday.
Organised jointly by Kalahandi district administration and District Council of Culture at Mausima Temple here, the Bhajan programme was all about devotional songs for Lord Jagannath and His siblings elder brother Lord Balabhadra and their sister Devi Subhadra.
The devotional songs were performed by Surmahak Musical Team. The Singers, including Nilanchala Pan, Sekhar Jena, Bhagirathi Nayak, Birendra Kumar Rout, Namita Mishra, Rubi Mohanty, Lipsarani Maharana and Sukanya Das, enthralled the devotees.
Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Dinabandhu Sundhi, educationist Dr Ajaya Kumar Mishra, Bhanuprakash Rath and Dhanyabad Panda also graced the occasion.
Notably, the Rath Yatra was held on Thursday with fanfare, religious fervour and enthusiasm here as hundreds of devotees thronged the town to witness the festival, marking the beginning of the annual nine day sojourn of the Lord Jagannath and His two siblings.
