Bhubaneswar: A total of 7,258 candidates out of 19,247 applicants have been selected for scholarships – KALIA Chhatra Brutti – announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in February this year.
Students of at least 187 colleges had applied for the scholarship. The scheme aims to help children of KALIA beneficiaries pursue higher education professional and technical courses.
“Of the 19,247 students applied for KALIA Scholarship, 7,258 applicants have been selected,” informed Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo after chairing a reviewing meeting KALIA Chhatra Brutti.
The Chief Minister had announced scholarship scheme for students – Kalia Chhatra Brutti – to help the children of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) beneficiaries take up professional courses.
Under the scheme, the State Government will bear the educational expenses of the children chosen to enter Government professional colleges on the basis of merit.
