Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal on Sunday held a meeting with medical, public health experts and Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) authorities here to review the arrangements for screening, isolation and treatment of possible patients infected with the deadly novel coronavirus (nCoV) amid mounting global concern over increasing number of cases in China, the epicentre of the outbreak, and in various parts of the country.
Dhal also visited State Control Room and Capital Hospital here to inspect the arrangements made in to deal with possible cases of coronavirus.
On Saturday, the State Government had issued an advisory to different authorities, including hospitals, airports, ports and railway divisions to put in place necessary arrangements to tackle the situation in view of the reported outbreak of nCoV.
The advisory says persons with travel history to China during last one month and flu like symptoms must use mask and report to nearest hospital for screening.
The State Government has also notified four hospitals as isolation and treatment centres for possible patients infected with the nCoV. The hospitals are SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack, VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and District Headquarters Hospital, Jharsuguda.
On the other hand, Union Health Secretary will have a video conferencing with all States at 11 am on Monday to review preparedness.
