Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Sunday appealed to people not to overcrowd markets after 48-hour shutdown got over in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak Town at 8 pm.

“I appealed people not to go for desperate buying after completion of 48-hour shutdown period at 8 pm tonight in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak Town. I urge people to adhere to social distancing to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus,” said Tripathy in a press conference.

He also thanked people for complying with the shutdown restrictions diligently.

“I would like to thank police administration for enforcing the regulations strictly and health department officials for standing up to do their duties effectively during the shutdown period,” said the Chief Secretary.

The Chief Secretary also urged people to stay indoors.

Notably, the State Government has imposed a complete shutdown for 48 hours in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak Town from Friday 8 pm to contain the spread of the infection after these places reported positive cases for Coronavirus.
