Covid-19: Odisha offers Rs 15 lakh ex-gratia to field journalists in case of death

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced compassionate assistance of Rs 15 lakh to any working journalist who dies due to Covid-19 infection.

“If any journalist dies due to Coronavirus, his/her family members will get ex-gratia amount of Rs 15 lakh,” said a CMO release.

However, not a single journalist tested positive for Coronavirus in the State.

Earlier, the Central Government had treated Coronavirus as a “notified disaster” for the purpose of providing assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh to families of those who die of coronavirus.
