Bhubaneswar, February 3: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday dedicated LED streetlight system on Cuttack-Puri Bypass Road. The lighting system has been started over 12 km stretch from Palasuni Square to Lingipur Square on the Bypass Road.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has installed 774 LED lights in 387 poles and three high-mast lights in Lingipur, Keshura and Pandra along the stretch.
While Odisha Tourism has spent Rs 2.85 crore on the lighting project, an additional Rs 6.7 crore will be invested further in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation area. More than 40,000 lights have already been installed in various parts of the city and the project work is underway, said the Chief Minister on the occasion.
The CM said that the lights will reduce cost of electricity and ensure safety for public, especially drivers and pedestrians as well as help in reducing road accidents, crime and theft.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena, Social Security and Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhury, among others were also present.
