Rs 1,272-Cr KALIA 3rd installment released to 53-lakh farmers in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, February 12: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday disbursed Rs 1,272 crore to more than 53 lakh farmers across Odisha under KALIA scheme through video conferencing.

As per the scheme, each farmer Rs 2,000. The third installment of KALIA scheme was transferred to the small and marginal farmers and landless agricultural labourers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

“A total amount of Rs 1,272 crore has been disbursed among beneficiaries. I want farmers of the State to prosper and live with respect,” said Patnaik.

The Chief Minister said that the hard work of farmers have brought improvement in the agriculture sector and saved the economy despite COVID-19.

He saluted their sacrifice and hard work and added that Odisha has been constantly working for the welfare of the farmers through various schemes.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also talked to farmers of various districts and discussed about KALIA assistance.

Speaking about MSP, the CM said Odisha Govt has been repeatedly demanding the Centre to double minimum support price.
