Bhubaneswar, March 22: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday sealed the campus of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) here for safety reasons and put all its students, employees and faculty members under isolation after it was found that some of the students and staff of the B-school tested COVID-19 positive.

Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena said that at least 45 people have been tested positive for the virus in the campus, who have mostly come from outside the State. He also said that their travel history has been tracked.

“The XIMB campus has been sealed after some of its students and staff tested COVID-19 positive until further orders and nobody is allowed to enter the premises. In order to check the spread of Covid-19, a protocol has been put in place for sanitising the college campus and all documents too,” said BMC Zonal Deputy Commissioner (North) Purandar Nanda.

Nanda is personally monitoring the sanitation work and strict enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines in and around the institute.

The civic body has already sanitised the entire campus, including classrooms, library, auditoriums etc.

Meanwhile, a special team has been rushed to the campus to conduct test of other students and staff of the college.  Swab samples were collected from students and staff of the institution and sent for RT-PCR test.

“There is no reason to be panic. The BMC has been keeping a close watch on the situation and taking precautionary measures to check the further spread of the virus,” said Nanda.
