“Unnati Bhawan” becomes first Odisha Govt building to be certified with IGBC’s Gold Rating

Bhubaneswar, April 28: The “Unnati Bhawan,” located in Satynagar here became the first Government building to be certified with Gold Rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Existing Building Rating System, said an official release.

According to a State Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department release, the building is an ideal demonstration of Green Building and houses various organisations under the H&UD Department such as OWSSB, WATCO, JAGA Mission & OUHM.

It has been designed as a Smart Building with a contemporary look and modern facilities adopting several unique green building features in its design and operation to ensure sustainability such as – High energy efficiency; Roof top solar power plant; Waste water treatment system to reuse treated water in landscaping; 100% rain water harvesting system and a Solid Waste Management system.

The building with built up area of 93250 square feet  was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on February 29, 2020.
