COVID-19 claims yet another journalist in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 11: COVID-19 has claimed yet another journalist in Odisha with the passing away of Shabnam Shirin on Tuesday.

Shirin, known for her wide experience, was working as Production Executive-cum-RJ at Voice of SOA Community 90.4 in Bhubaneswar. She was infected by COVID-19 a few days ago. She is survived by her husband and a little daughter.

After completing her M.Sc in Microbiology, she did a course in Journalism and worked in several media platforms including Kanak News, STV, Odia daily The Paryabekhyak and News7. She was also well known as a journalist-presenter at Doordarshan Odia News.

Her programmes at SOA Community Radio 90.4 were of great quality as she took up various social issues like child marriage. Her programs also focussed on the problems of slum dwellers.

She was in home isolation after being infected by COVID-19 and was shifted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar when her condition worsened. She succumbed to the illness there.
