Bhubaneswar, November 2: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday launched simultaneous raids on the properties of Nimapara Tehsildar Ramachandra Jena at his houses in CDA in Cuttack and Kendrapara district after seizure of Rs 4.65 lakh from his possession.
According to a Vigilance statement, at around 5 AM Jena, who was also holding the additional responsibility of Sub-Registrar, Nimapara district was intercepted by the anti-graft officials near his official residence at Nimapara in Puri district. “Ill-gotten cash of Rs 4,65,000 was recovered from him which he couldn’t account for satisfactorily,” it said.
“Further during house searches of his Government quarters at Nimapara, an amount of Rs 50,000 has been recovered. Simultaneous searches have been launched at his residence at Sec-11 CDA, Cuttack, his native place at Dhanmandal, Garadpur in Kendrapara,” it added.
An Additional SP, seven DSPs and two Inspectors were carrying out the search operations.
