Bhubaneswar, January 17: The Gautam Adani-led Adani Group has proposed to set up two medical colleges in Bhadrak and Rayagada in the State to upgrade medical care facilities at the district level.

The company, which has a port and logistics business in the State, plans to set up medical colleges in Bhadrak in the first phase.

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone CEO (Ports) Subrat Tripathy has written to Odisha Health Secretary Shalini Pandit in December last year seeking Government’s support for setting up medical colleges on PPP mode in Bhadrak at the first instance.

“We have initiated preliminary work and survey to establish a medical college in Bhadrak and Rayagada and are interested to establish medical college on PPP mode in Bhadrak at the first instance,” said Tripathy in his letter.

“This entire development will be done by Adani Foundation under Adani Group CSR activity based on mutually accepted MoU with the State Government. We request your support in this endeavour,” said Tripathy.

It may be noted that a port is being operated by Adani Group at Dhamra in Bhadrak district, while it plans to build a refinery and a captive power plant in Rayagada.
