Bhubaneswar, July 11: With mobile phones serving as one of the biggest distractions in the modern world, the DAV Regional Directorate Odisha has introduced ‘mobile fasting’ initiative across all the DAV institutions in the State, to break the virtual bondage and improve the reading habit.
As part of the initiative, members of the staff of all the DAV institutions have been advised to refrain themselves from using mobile phones once a week in the campus.
The Directorate also advised all the stakeholders including Principals, students, teachers, staff as well as Group-D employees available on the campus to engage themselves in a weekly reading period with story books, books on moral values and other enlightened books.
A circular to this effect has been issued by Regional Director Dr KC Satpathy to all the DAV institutions.
While the students have never been permitted to bring cell phones with them to the school, the teachers shall also inspire the students to limit the use of cell phones by abstaining themselves from using cell phones on the restricted day. In case of any exigencies, the landline or mobile phones of the school office can be used,” said a DAV official.
The parents have also been informed about these two initiatives so that they also can plan their transactions with the school or the teachers accordingly.
