BMC launches Team SHINE, vows to make Bhubaneswar clean & green through enforcement

Bhubaneswar, August 13: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday introduced Team SHINE (Sanitation & Hygiene Inspection for Neat Environment) to ensure cleaner and greener Bhubaneswar through enforcement.

Team SHINE comprises 10 teams each having five to six personnel. The teams along with 67 Sanitation Inspectors will seamlessly align with BMC’s vision in making Bhubaneswar clean and green with citizen participation.

Team SHINE will undertake enforcement visits across the city to check for illegal dumping of garbage. The teams will create awareness initially.

BMC Mayor Sulochana Das launched the initiative in the presence of Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, Commissioner of Police Soumendra Priyadarsi, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh, BMC Standing Committee chairman at the BMC office here.

To mark this occasion, a road show programme of the enforcement squads was conducted from Vani Vihar to the BMC office at Satya Nagar covering Acharya Vihar.

“First, the team will bring behavioural changes about maintaining a neat environment among the residents through awareness activities. Then stern action will be taken against the violators. Fine up to Rs 10,000 will be imposed on the violators,” said BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.

The members of the SHINE teams have been imparted proper training.
