Orissa High Court gets two new Judges: Here’s what we know about them

Cuttack, September 5: Advocate Sibo Sankar Mishra & senior Judicial Officer Anand Chandra Behera were sworn in as Judges of Orissa High Court here on Tuesday. Orissa HC Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra administered the oath of office to them.

Judges of the High Court, Law Minister, Advocate General and Home Secretary along with senior officers were present.

Justice Sibo Sankar Mishra

Justice Mishra enrolled as an Advocate on 07 December 1991 and has a standing of 30 years at the Bar. He specialized in civil, criminal and service law. He is an Advocate-on-record for the State of Odisha in the Supreme Court and is counsel for the Union of India and High Court of Orissa in the Supreme Court. He has a sizable practice at the Bar which is reflected in his average professional income.

Justice Ananda Chandra Behera

Justice Behera has served as a judicial officer in various capacities in the State of Odisha. The inputs provided by the Government in the file indicate that he has a good personal and professional image and nothing adverse has come to notice with regard to his integrity.

The Centre on Saturday notified the appointment of Sibo Sankar Mishra, Advocate-on-Record and Ananda Chandra Behera, Senior Judicial Officer as Judges of Orissa High Court.

The Collegium of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice SK Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna had recommended their names for such appointment on August 17, 2023.
