Classical dance connoisseurs throng International Odissi Dance Festival

Bhubaneswar, December 27: The second day of the biggest Odissi ensemble on Wednesday witnessed a beautiful blend of rhythm, movement and music representing the three styles of Odissi.

The morning session featured some good performances by the artistes of Odissi Nrutyayana, Berhampur (Group), Tomomi Fukui, USA (Solo), Saswati Soumya Sahoo, Canada (Solo), Sarbani Mishra & Ananyab Nanda, Cuttack (Duet), Soumyashree Samantaray, Bhubaneswar (Solo), Poonam Gupta, Chattisgarh (Solo), Narahari Maharana & Dibyashree Majhi, Ganjam (Duet), Wallisha Sahu, Cuttack (Solo), Rajasree Mohapatra, Bhubaneswar (Solo), Jeypore Kala Kendra, Jeypore (Group).

The afternoon’s session was started with Group dance by Kasba Surer Kheya, Kolkata followed by Sushmita Dash & Sweta Dash, Bhubaneswar (Duet), Ankita Kanungo, Puri (Solo), Ayusha Naik & Tanaya Mishra, Talcher (Duet), Jashaswini Swain, Bhubaneswar (Solo) and Shree Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar (Group).

The evening programme began with Solo Dance by Meera Das, Cuttack followed by Rina Jana, Kolkata (Solo), Mamata Bariha & Kalyani Mohanty, Bhubaneswar (Duet), Sumedha Sengupta, Ranchi (Solo), Himanshu Kumar Ray, Bhubaneswar (Solo), Yudhistira Pradhan & Itishree Naik, Brahmagiri (Duet), Devyani Sharma, Noida (Solo), Sujata Mazumdar, Kolkata (Solo) and Art Vision, Bhubaneswar (Group).

The dignitaries who graced the function included Madhusudan Das, Special Secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Subodh Acharya, Joint Director, Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Dr. Kirtan Narayan Padhi, Odissi Music Scholar, Dr. Santanu Rath, Bhanja Sahitya Scholar, Sikata Das, Chief Executive, GKCM Odissi Research Centre and Anuja Tarini Mishra, Administrative Officer, GKCM Odissi Reach Centre. The programme was anchored by Dr. Srinivas Ghatuari.
