Bhubaneswar, August 14: Krish, a lion whose roar reverberated around the Nandankanan Zoological Park, breathed his last on Wednesday.
It was an aged zoo born male hybrid lion. Krish was born on June 16, 2004 at Nandankanan Zoological Park. He sired two litters with Radha in which there are two surviving off-springs Kalpana, born on July 23, 2015 and Jeet, born on March 6, 2017.
Because of old age, it was losing its body condition. Since July 26, it was seen with emaciation, general weakness and reduced appetite. It was continuously under geriatric palliative treatment.
During the last one week it was unable to get up and mostly lying in recumbency.
“Despite the best efforts of our dedicated veterinary and support team, Krish’s condition continued to decline and finally he lasted his breath on 14-08-2024 at 9 AM at the ripe old age of twenty years 1 month 28 days,” said Zoo authorities.
