After Mamata Mohanta, another BJD MP Sujeet Kumar resigns from Rajya Sabha

Bhubaneswar, September 6: In a major jolt to the Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD), senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member Sujeet Kumar resigned from the Rajya Sabha.

His resignation has been accepted by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar with immediate effect.

“Hon’ble Vice-President of India and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar has accepted the resignation of Shri Sujeet Kumar from the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) with immediate effect, finding the same in conformity with Article 101 3(b) of the Constitution,” tweeted Vice President of India.

Meanwhile, BJD expelled Kumar for “anti-party activities.”

Recently, Mamata Mohanta also resigned from BJD and also from Rajya Sabha and joined BJP. She was later elected unopposed to the Rajay Sabha from Odisha.
