Bhubaneswar, June 14: A 12-year-old girl was rescued from the house of a retired district Collector from IRC Village area here on Monday while she was engaged in domestic work.
It was learnt that the son of the house owner works as a professor at the National Law University, Hyderabad and daughter runs an English Medium school for kids at IRC Village.
According to reports, the child was trafficked from her village at Berhampur in November 2020 and was engaged in domestic servitude.
Being the victim of poverty, she was trafficked by such affluent people – the custodian of law. When she was trafficked, she was studying in Class-V in the school. Her father is a rickshaw puller and mother works as a domestic help.
On being informed, Childline rescued the child with the help of Nayapalli police. The child will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
