Puri, March 16: Shree Jagannath Temple servitor Krushna Chandra Pratihari, who along with five others, were recently acquitted in the sensational murder of former BJD councillor and servitor Taluchha Bhagaban Mohapatra aka Guna Singhari in August 2012, was shot dead on Wednesday morning in Barabati area.
Pratihari, a former member of the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee and present secretary of the Suara Mahasuara Nijog, Krushna Chandra Pratihari was shot dead by unidentified miscreants.
According to reports, two bike borne miscreants opened fire two rounds of bullets on Pratihari before fleeing the spot. The senior servitor was immediately rushed to Puri District Headquarters Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma and SP Kanwar Vishal Singh rushed to Puri DHH to assess the situation.
“This is a challenging case. Top priority is to nab the accused. 4 special teams have been formed for the same,” said Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh.
