Odisha Chief Secretary down with dengue

Bhubaneswar, September 11: Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena has tested positive for dengue and is undergoing treatment at the State-run Capital Hospital in the city.

“The Chief Secretary’s health condition is improving. But he will stay in the hospital for two-three days. We are constantly monitoring his health,” said Capital Hospital Director Dr Laxmidhar Sahoo.

Bhubaneswar Development Authority Vice Chairman Balwant Singh and Khurda Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy visited the hospital and enquired the health condition of the Chief Secretary.

Meanwhile, dengue cases are gradually decreasing in the city with daily caseload going down to 10-15 compared to 30-40 last week.

According to the BMC, the number of dengue cases stood at about 1,400 with almost over two-thirds getting cured of the disease in the capital city.

The number of dengue hotspots identified in the city has also come down to three from six last week.

BMC has procured new fogging machines recently to cover more areas of the city. The anti-larvae drive has also been carried out simultaneously in different parts of the city.

The Ghara Ghara Samparka Abhiyan has also been going on to generate awareness among residents about the prevention measures.
