Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flags off Gopinathpur Nilgiri-Balasore new MEMU train service

Balasore, January 13: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday flagged off the Gopinathpur Nilgiri-Balasore new MEMU train service at Gopinathpur Nilgiri railway station in Balasore district. Three pairs of MEMU trains will run over this route daily.

With the inauguration of a new passenger line between Gopinathpur Nilgiri and Balasore, the people of this area got the passenger train services for the very first time.

Vaishnaw also dedicated the Balasore-Gopinathpur Nilgiri passenger line and laid foundation stone for the subway and inaugurated the PRS booking counter at Betnoti railway station.

Speaking on the occasion, “Odisha was receiving on an average Rs 800 crore in a year before 2014. Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated Rs 10,000 crore to the State for the railway. There will be no dearth of money for the development of Odisha,” said Vaishnaw.

He also announced that a survey for laying of new railway line between Nilgiri-Betnoti will be conducted and a flyover will be built at Khantapada.

Similarly, the new PRS Counter at Betnoti will be beneficial for the passengers of the area for booking of reserved tickets.

As a part of providing more passenger amenities and safety, a subway will be constructed at Betnoti Station. It will ensure smooth entry and exit of passengers to the station and the local residents will be able to commute through the subway without crossing the railway track.
