Bangalore/Bhubaneswar, July 16: The 13th National Junior and Sub-Junior Para Athletics Championship-2024 kicked off at Kantirava Stadium, Bangalore, with an inspiring performance by Odisha’s young athlete Jayaprakash Barik. Competing in the F-36 category in the Under 19 javelin throw, Jayaprakash won a bronze medal, marking a significant achievement for the State.
Jayaprakash’s remarkable throw of 30.07 meters earned him the bronze medal, making it Odisha’s first medal in this prestigious championship. The competition was fierce, with Haney from Haryana securing the gold medal with an impressive throw of 61.02 meters, while Bhupesh Kumar from Rajasthan claimed the silver medal with a throw of 38.96 meters.
The entire team and officials from Odisha are thrilled with this early success and are hopeful for more medals in the coming days of the championship. This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Jayaprakash and his coaches, who have been preparing rigorously for this event.
