Odisha: CM orders RDC-level probe into Kandhamal mango kernel death issue

Bhubaneswar, November 5: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday ordered RDC-level probe into the mango kernel death issue in Kandhamal district.

Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Southern Division) Roopa Roshan Sahoo will conduct the inquiry and submit her report to the State Government.

At least two women died and six others fell ill after allegedly consuming the gruel at Mandipanaka, a remote tribal village in Gadapur panchayat under Daringbadi block on November 1.

Meanwhile, two tribal women are undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. Their condition is stated to be very critical. Four others are admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur.

Meanwhile, a medical team visited Mandipanaka village on Saturday. The team requested villagers not to consume unhygienic food. They also urged villagers to maintain personal hygiene and drink boiled water.
