14 companies of CAPF deployed for Nuapada bypoll

Bhubaneswar, November 1: As many as 14 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have been deployed in Nuapada in a major security move ahead of the upcoming Nuapada Assembly byelection, said ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar.

Kumar said a total of 14 FST and 14 SST (Static Surveillance Team) equipped with 24×7 CCTV surveillance system were also functioning in poll-bound Nuapada.

Border check posts in Chattisgarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Bargarh have been erected, said Kumar.

Maintaining that special plans have been made to tackle Naxals issue in Sunabeda forest, Kumar said helicopters will be used to transport the polling party.

All the critical booths including in Naxal affected area will be guarded by CAPF and armed police.

Meanwhile, DGP YB Khurania also visited Nuapada and reviewed the preparations ahead of the upcoming bypoll, scheduled on November 11.

“We will ensure a fair, free, transparent and peaceful election. All necessary measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incident during the poll process,” asserted Kuamr.
