Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday hailed Rayagada Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarvana Vivek M for saving the lives of accident victims in Kailashkota ghat on Monday.
“Appreciate the exemplary act of humanity by Rayagada SP Sarvana Vivek M to save the lives of accident victims. The doctor SP did a yeoman service by providing timely medical help to the road accident victims on his way back from official tour, saving the precious lives,” said Patnaik in his facebook page.
The SP, who is also a doctor, was returning from Gunupur to Rayagada after an official tour when he saw three men lying unconscious on the road in Kailashkota ghat with severe head injuries when their motorcycle slipped on the under-construction road.
Without wasting time, the SP provided first aid to them and brought them to the Kolnara Community Health Centre nearby in his official vehicle. Without waiting for doctors, the SP himself started treating the victims.
But as the condition of one Sushant Kondagiri deteriorated due to profuse bleeding, the SP made arrangements to shift him to District Headquarters Hospital with police escort.
The two other injured were discharged after treatment.
