Cuttack: A woman journalist, who has lodged a misbehaviour complaint against Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty and his brother Anuprash, recorded her statement before a Magistrate on Tuesday here.
She recorded her statement at the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) under Section 164 of CrPC in the presence of Purighat police and Investigating Officer.
In her FIR lodged at the Purighat police station last month, the 29-year-old woman has alleged that Anuprash used to pass objectionable comments at her whenever she was on her way to work in a newspaper on the Choudhury Bazar-Nandi Sahi road.
Unable to bear the trauma, she had gone to meet Anubhav at his house to draw his attention towards the matter on June 12, but the actor-cum-politician allegedly misbehaved with her and even spat at her, she has alleged.
Notably, a case under Sections 294, 354 (A), 323 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against Anubhav and Anuprash on the basis of woman’s FIR.
The woman had staged a dharna at the Purighat police station on June 14 demanding action against the accused and alleging that the IIC of the police station is unable to take action against the MP and his brother due to political pressure on him.
She further alleged that she is being threatened and lewd remarks are being passed at her by associates of the accused for lodging the complaint with police.
Earlier on June 20, she had also reached Naveen Niwas, the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking CM’s intervention for justice. However, she was whisked away by the police personnel.
