Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Tuesday asked all SPs, DCPs, DIGs, IGs to ensure free movement of doctors, nurses and other personnel engaged in healthcare services during lockdown in Odisha to contain COVID-19.
In a letter to all the SPs, DCPs and range DIGs and IGs, Abhay asked the police officials to allow movement of health professionals in their vehicle during lockdown based on their Identity card till March 27.
“Doctors, nurses and other health care personnel are crucial for society in general more so current scenario. Because of lack of capacity and other constrains pass system during lockdown is yet not robust. We are working to develop a web-based system of passes for all exempted category,” said Abhay.
“Since a web-based system will take time to develop and stabilise, doctors, nurses and health care workers employed in Government and as well as private hospitals should be allowed to move during lockdown till March 27 in their vehicles on showing their identity card which has name, designation and photograph, issued by the Government or private hospitals,” the DGP said.
The DGP directed the top police personnel to instruct all the police stations and field officers immediately in this regard.
The Odisha Government has declared lockdown in the entire State till March 29 to check the spread of the virus.
