Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over telephone and requested him for postponement of NEET and JEE Main Exam in view of COVID19 pandemic and severe flood situation in many parts of Odisha.
“CM @Naveen_Odisha spoke to Prime Minister @narendramodi over telephone and requested him for postponement of #NEET and #JEE Main Exam in view of #COVID19 pandemic and severe flood situation in many parts of #Odisha,” tweeted the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The development comes two days after Patnaik wrote to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank seeking postponement of JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020.
National Testing Agency (NTA) has scheduled to conduct the JEE (Main) and NEET, 2020 test for admission into the technical and medical courses on September 1 – 6 and September 13, respectively.
More than 50,000 students from Odisha are appearing in NEET and around 40,000 in JEE (Main) this year. However, NTA has opened examination centres for these tests in seven townships of the State only.
