New Delhi: In a significant development amid heightened regional tensions, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed this afternoon that a ceasefire agreement has been reached between India and Pakistan, effective from 17:00 hours IST today. The announcement was made during a press briefing on the ongoing #OperationSindoor.

The agreement follows a call made earlier in the day at 15:35 hours between the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan and his Indian counterpart. During the conversation, both sides agreed to halt all military actions on land, in the air, and at sea.

“Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding,” said Foreign Secretary Misri. He also noted that the DGMOs will reconvene for further discussions on May 12 at 12:00 hours IST to review the situation and ensure continued compliance.

The ceasefire comes as a critical step toward de-escalation and peace in the region, marking a pause in hostilities under the broader umbrella of Operation Sindoor. Further updates are expected following the scheduled talks on May 12.
