Bhubaneswar, October 10: Two-day national Life Science Startup Summit 4.0, focussed at BioE³ – Where Biology, Biotech and Business Converge, began at the BRIC–Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The summit had brought together leading policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators to strengthen India’s biotechnology entrepreneurship and bioeconomy landscape.
Organized by BRIC–ILS, the summit provided a collaborative platform for academia, startups, investors, and industry to explore pathways from scientific discovery to market-ready innovation.
The inaugural session was graced by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Ashwini Pareek, Director, NABI; Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director, BIRAC; and Dr. Santanu Dasgupta, President, Bioeconomy (Former VP, Reliance Industries). During the session, RNA Biotech Pvt. Ltd. and Jivada Ventures Pvt. Ltd. unveiled their latest biotechnology products, marking a significant step in translating indigenous innovation into commercial solutions.
Dr. Debasis Dash, Director, BRIC–ILS, stated that “BioE³ is a catalyst for transforming scientific innovation into enterprise, driving India’s vision of a sustainable and globally competitive bioeconomy.”
In his keynote address, Dr. Ashwini Pareek highlighted how bioinnovation is reshaping Indian agriculture, while Dr. Santanu Dasgupta emphasized the transformative role of biotechnology in healthcare and sustainable growth.
The summit featured startup pitch sessions, panel discussions, and technology showcases, with over 25 promising startups from biotechnology, diagnostics, agriculture, and medtech sectors presenting before investors and industry experts.
Key discussions centered on “Building Life Science Ventures in India”, “Investor-Start-up meet” and “Industry–Startup–Academia Collaborations.”
A highlight of the event was the Technology Showcase, where ILS researchers presented patented technologies ready for licensing.
The Startup Awards and Recognition Ceremony honoured outstanding innovators under categories including Best Emerging Startup and Best stall presentation.
The awards were presented by Kamaljit Das, Joint Secretary to Government and CAO, Startup Odisha, and Dr. Ajit Satapathy, Director, R&D, Laurus Bio Pvt. Ltd along with our Dr. Debasis Dash Director BRIC ILS.
